Circumstances: On July 27, 2011, subject spoke to brother shortly before leaving his residence. He indicated he was going to drive to the desert and shoot himself. His brother went to his residence to check on him and he had already left. The subject is known to have a handgun in his possession. The subject was suffering from health problems and had been suicidal in the past. Officers checked the desert areas and did not locate the subject or the vehicle he had left in.

On October 30, 2011, the Ford F150 registered to the missing was located in a forest area near Norwood, CO approximately 150 miles from Grand Junction, CO. The vehicle appeared to have been parked at that location for some time. A search of the area was done on foot and by air for the missing subject. This area is rough terrain with cliffs and some bodies of water.
